Medecins du Monde-Papua: Nurse or Midwife

Médecins du Monde (MDM) is an international medical Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) that is implementing a health program in Puncak Jaya district, Papua. MDM supports health staff and communities in improving the district health situation by technical capacity building, training and education. MDM focus on Primary Health Care, including prevention of Sexual Transmitted Infections and HIV/AIDS.
Médecins du Monde supports vulnerable population worldwide to reach an improved health status and its right to health. MDM works on basis of impartiality and neutrality.

As part of its expanded activities, MDM is currently looking for an enthusiastic
Nurse or Midwife

Location: Mulia (Kab. Puncak Jaya), with frequent travelling within the district.

Duration: 6 months contract.

The nurse or midwife will work with the medical team, consisting of an expatriate nurse, doctor and health educator, in the primary health clinics (PHC) and villages in the district. Besides strengthening the clinics, medical outreach activities, safe motherhood sessions and immunization services will be supported by the team. Villages are several hours walking away, in mountainous terrain.

Main Responsibilities:
• Develop and conduct trainings on hygiene and disinfection at PHC level
• Develop and conduct training modules on prevention and management of
infectious diseases for health staff and health kader
• Develop and conduct health education sessions at village level
• Develop and conduct safe motherhood trainings on PHC and village level
• Provide care, immunisation and kader follow-up during outreach
activities

Profile:
• Nursing degree and proven training in public health
• Experience in community health and/or in health education
• Fluent in Bahasa Indonesia and basic knowledge of English
• Ability to learn from different cultures and people, more specific
the Dani population in the highlands of Papua
• Preferably residing in Papua
• Proficiency with word and excel
• Good physical condition and ability to work in a challenging geographical context, under basic conditions and with a multi-ethnic team

Senior Administration Officer. lateral, collaborative partnership of hospitals and institutions in Indonesia,
Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, and Vietnam. International partners
currently include US National Institute of Health - National Institute of
Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Oxford University, Wellcome Trust, and 13
clinical sites and labs across Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand. The SEA ICRN
Network Co-ordinating Centre (NCC) provides guidance and support to clinical
research teams needed to implement the scientific research agenda. This
support includes the planning, administration and execution of an $8 million
USD annual budget and the necessary financial reporting to sponsors including

The SEA-ICRN is looking for senior candidates having extensive experience in
the overall management of complex health-related projects in the setting of
developing nations with excellent spoken and written English language skills.
Knowledge of and experience in clinical trials research across a range of
